Looks like you just got unlucky in your little Galaxy S5 hacking adventures — that is, little things like rooting, custom recoveries and custom ROMs — and now, you have a bricked device in your hand.
Well, what we can do now is try to restore your Galaxy S5 back to stock using a firmware so that all bad partitions on the device are fixed and it doesn’t bootloops and restarts normally.
And well, depending on what you were trying to do, and more importantly how, it could either be soft-bricked or hard-bricked — in latter case, as sad as it is, you maybe out of luck, man!
Even though rare, and when you are like set to be doomed, your Galaxy S5 might get hard-bricked. In which case, the Galaxy S5 won’t boot into download mode — it won’t respond to key combinations you are trying to make it to boot normally or to download or recovery mode.
Hard-brick results in one dead Android device. Yes, it’s sick, and worrying. You may have to look for a JTAG service locally; the person with good knowledge of that may be able to revive it. Oh, you can also try using USB Jig (look on ebay, perhaps!) to reboot the Galaxy S5 into download mode, but it may or may not work!
Hard-brick is rare, it may happen only when power supply gets disturbed of computer and/or Android device when something is being installed/updated on the device. Or, when you totally mis-do things totally recklessly. That’s why you have to be very careful with even the easiest steps.
Let’s see soft-brick now. Normally, a rick is a soft-brick, which means your device isn’t completely dead, that it is just not able to boot normally and gets stuck somewhere. And, download mode is working.
If your Android device can boot into download mode, then it means it’s a soft-brick. If it cannot, then it’s hard-bricked.

Warranty may be void of your device if you follow the procedures given on this page.
You only are responsible for your device. We won’t be liable if any damage occurs to your device and/or its components.
Before you begin with guide instructions below, make sure your android device is adequately charged — at least 50% battery of the device.
To make sure your device is eligible with this, you must first confirm its model no. in ‘About device’ option under Settings. Another way to confirm model no. is by looking for it on the packaging box of your device. It must be SM-G900H!
Do not use the procedures discussed here on any other Galaxy S5 (including the Galaxy S5 variant at T-Mobile, Sprint, US-Cellular, AT&T, Verizon and other International LTE variants) or any other device of Samsung or any other company. You have been warned!
Back up important data and stuff before you start playing around here as there are chances you might lose your apps and app-data (app settings, game progress, etc.), and in rare case, files on the internal memory, too.

AndroidcureA phone that is bricked might be an Android user's worst nightmare as that means that data is lost and a real possibility of never being able to fix the device.
Use this tutorial and learn how you can successfully unbrick your Samsung Galaxy S5 and make it work once again. Note that in case your phone is bricked then you probably cannot boot it on, it boots but it restarts almost immediately or its screen stays black no matter what you do to it.
There are two different Samsung 'bricks', one that is hardware-related and you can't do anything about it, as the device becomes unusable, the other one could be software related and you can fix it.
A software brick of a Samsung phone can be fixed using Factory Reset or by installing a new stock Android OS using ODIN application. Odin is a small tool that is destined to be used by Samsung owners whenever they want to flash a full stock Android version.
If you think that your device is bricked and a Factory Reset will fix it, then you can choose to use our 'How to Hard Reset the Samsung Galaxy S5' guide here.
Note that by factory resetting your device you will lose all the data that is currently stored on your phone. Make sure to remove the external microSD card if there is one connected, so that you will not lose the data stored on it, too. Any other data that you might have stored on your phone and you can save then you should go ahead and do it, after that you can start the factory reset.
If the Factory Reset tutorial fails and the Galaxy S5 still doesn't boot in normal mode, then you should try to re-install the Samsung Android OS stock version. For this you will have to use the ODIN application. The tutorial below lists all the steps that you need to take in order to unbrick the phone and restore it to a working state.
For this tutorial you should make sure that the Samsung USB Drivers are installed on your computer.
Download Samsung USB Drivers for your PC from here.
Also, it would be best if you had the USB Debugging enabled on your device. However, since your device is bricked then you might not be able to boot in normal mode and the USB Debugging option cannot be accessed. Odin should be more than capable of by-passing it.
Wait for ODIN to complete the flashing process of a new and stock Android ROM for your Samsung Galaxy S5.
After the phone boots you should be able to enter your default Gmail accoun and take control over your phone once again.
In case you need any extra help you should use the comments field below.
If you can't repair your device, then it would be best for you to take it to a specialized service center and hope that they will be able to repair it for you. Also, if you have a valid warranty, then you can take it to your retailer / carrier and they should take care of the problem.

Revoking root access or restoring your phone back to stock Android OS might be operations required for fixing a soft bricked Samsung Galaxy S5 Active. That’s why, if you need help and a proper and compatible troubleshoot solution, you can take a look below, where I have explained how to easily unbrick the Galaxy S5 Active. Of course, the unbrick method implies in unrooting your phone and in downgrading it to stock Android software, so be careful when applying the following guidelines as you will restore your handset back to its initial state.
Why should you use this tutorial? As already pointed out, the guidelines from below should be applied if: you want to unroot or revoke root access on your Galaxy S5 Active (also you can learn how to root your phone by using this tutorial); you want to restore your device back to its initial state; you want to restore stock Android firmware on your S5 Active; you want to remove or resolve software related issues. So, in a more general matter, this is an unbrick process that unveils a manual troubleshoot solution that is compatible with the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active and not just a classic update operation.
The unbrick process should be performed only if you are dealing with software issues, such as: boot loops, force close errors, screen freeze situations, lags, bugs, battery drain issues, alerts or total blackouts. If you have managed to hardware brick your S5 Active, then you must take your phone back to service for technical assistance (you might have to pay for that, if you have performed custom operations – then the warranty gets void and you can’t reclaim it no more).
Basically, by completing this tutorial you will reinstall the stock and factory restrictions on your device. You will also flash the stock Android OS, relock the bootloader, revoke root access and remove custom or third party apps, software or processes. That’s why, in the end, you will have a clean Android device that will smoothly run without dealing with software bugs, or other problems. Unfortunately, on the same process your data will get wiped out, which means you are about to lose everything that’s saved on the internal storage memory of your phone.
Due to same reasons, before doing anything else, a backup is strongly recommended. Thus, install backup and restore apps and save your contacts, call logs, text messages, internet settings, EFS, market apps, along with your personal data, info and accounts. If you skip this process, then you will definitely end up in losing everything you might need or use afterwards.
Now, make sure that you can use a computer as on the same you will have to download Odin (used on the downgrade operation) and other tools required on the unroot and unbrick processes. On the computer you are using you should temporarily disable the antivirus, antimalware and Firewall protection; else you might be interrupted by the same. On your Galaxy S5 Active the best will be to enable USB debugging option; you can do the same by going towards “menu – settings – developer options”.
If the battery level is currently showing less than 50% power left, you shouldn’t go any further without plugging in the charger (if your phone gets turned off in the middle of the unbrick / unroot process, it might also get hard bricked). Proceed to the next section of this tutorial only if you own the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active. The guidelines from below are being compatible only with the same so try not to mess things up.
In most situations, when talking about software related issues, we are talking about bugs or problems caused by unofficial operations such as root access, custom ROMs, custom recovery images, overclocking processes and so on. Thus, you should try to resolve the most common software issues by using the steps from below. Do note that you will have to hard reset your Android device, so remember to backup your data.
Now, if you want to downgrade your Galaxy S5 Active to stock Android OS and remove bugs, lags and any other software issues, you should follow the steps from below.
So, that’s how you can unbrick and unroot your Samsung Galaxy S5 Active. If you have problems, if you have questions and if you need our help, don’t hesitate and use the comments section from below. Also, if possible, share your experience with us and with our readers and tell us how things worked for you.
